"The House GOP 'Commitment to America' Agenda is Bad for Our Country and Bad for Our Economy"
Last week, New Democrat Coalition (NDC) Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01) released a statement following House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s announcement of the GOP agenda:
“Americans want and deserve a governing party that fights inflation, raises wages, protects individual freedoms, and moves our country forward,” said NDC Chair Suzan DelBene (WA-01). “That’s the commitment Democrats have made, and that’s exactly what we’ve done this Congress. In February, New Dems formed a first of its kind Inflation Working Group and a comprehensive Action Plan to Fight Inflation. We’ve made incredible progress on this agenda by passing legislation to lower health care and energy costs, secure our supply chains, reduce our dependence on other countries.
“Republicans had the opportunity to advance policies they purport to support but ultimately voted against strengthening our economy and lowering costs for working families. Leader McCarthy’s announcement of a GOP ‘Commitment to America’ agenda today shows once again that the Republican party has no plan to improve our economy or ensure Americans have an opportunity to succeed in it. The House GOP agenda to ban abortion, cut Medicare and Social Security and raise taxes on Americans would only take our country and economy back in time.
“Thankfully, the New Dem economic agenda will take our country into the future. While Republicans wage culture wars, New Dems are fighting inflation, cutting costs, and making governance work for Americans. The House GOP agenda is bad for our country and bad for our economy.”
House Passes Lee and Ruiz's NDC-endorsed Bipartisan MOBILE Health Care Act
The House passed the Senate version of Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) and Rep. Raul Ruiz (CA-36)'s NDC-endorsed bill, S. 958, the Maximizing Outcomes through Better Investments in Lifesaving Equipment for (MOBILE) Health Care Act. This bipartisan legislation would expand access to health care by allowing Federally-Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) to use New Access Point (NAP) grants for establishing mobile health units to increase access to affordable, quality health care in rural and underserved communities. The bill now heads to President Biden's desk for signature.
House Passes Two Connolly Bills that Prioritize Health of Federal Employees and Improve Government Cybersecurity
The House passed two bipartisan bills authored by Rep. Gerry Connolly (VA-11), the Chairman of the House Subcomittee on Government Operations. H.R. 8466, the Chai Suthammanont Healthy Federal Workplaces Act, puts employee health and safety at the forefront of government operations during a health emergency. H.R. 21, the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Authorization Act, helps agencies adopt cost effective, secure, and nimble cloud technologies so agencies can serve the public anywhere at any time.
House Passes Ryan Bill to Expand Home Loans for Members of the National Guard and Reserve
The House passed Rep. Pat Ryan's (NY-19) bipartisan bill, H.R. 8875, the Expanding Home Loans for Guard and Reservists Act. This legislation extends VA home loans to more Members of the National Guard and Reserve to ensure each day in uniform counts for benefit eligibility and guarantees service members are treated fairly and receive the same benefits as active duty forces.
House Passes Pappas Bill to Improve Protections for VA Whistleblowers
The House passed Rep. Chris Pappas' (NH-01) bipartisan bill, H.R. 8510, the Strengthening Whistleblower Protections Act, which will improve the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) policies and procedures to better protect VA whistleblowers and investigate claims of wrongdoing.
House Passes Williams Bill to Promote John Lewis' Legacy Globally
The House passed Rep. Nikema Williams' (GA-05) bipartisan bill, H.R. 8681, the John Lewis Civil Rights Fellowship Act of 2022, which creates the John Lewis Civil Rights Fellowship within the Fulbright Scholarship Program. The fellowship will support scholars who want to study nonviolent civil rights movements abroad.

The House passed Rep. Joaquin Castro's (TX-20) bipartisan bill, H.R. 8463, the Millennium Challenge Corporation Eligibility Expansion Act, bipartisan legislation that advances the fight against global poverty by expanding the number of countries eligible for development partnerships with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

While brand-name drug manufacturers are permitted to update their product labels, generic manufacturers cannot independently update label information. This legislation will close this safety gap and improve health outcomes for more Americans.
